THE DOCTORS

Your partners in eye care, Dr. Eric Knutson and Dr. Rob Young, are licensed Optometric Physicians and are fully certified in diagnosis and therapeutic treatment of eye disease, refractive surgery co-management, complete vision analysis, children's visual disorders, eye injuries, and contact lens prescriptions.  Our knowledgeable staff includes certified opticians, optometric assistants, and paraoptometrics.  These professionals provide vision analysis pre-testing, tonometry, fundus photography, visual field testing, contact lens and care systems dispensing, safety and fashion eyewear measurement and consultations.

Dr. KnutsonDr. Eric Knutson

Dr. Eric Knutson has served on the Oregon Board of Optometry and was honored the 1994 Oregon Optometrist of the Year.  Dr Knutson graduated from the Pacific College of Optometry in 1967.  After practicing in the Navy for 2 years, he came to Oregon in 1971 and became partners with Dr. Robert Holcomb at Valley Eye Care.   After practicing together for 21 years, Dr. Holcomb retired and Dr. Knutson became the sole proprietor of Valley Eye Care.
     Dr. Knutson has been the vision consultant to the OSU Athletic department since 1976 and is involved in local groups such as Rotary, the Sister Cities Association, and the Chamber of Commerce.  He is also an active member of the Oregon Optometric Association and represents the State of Oregon on a national level in the congressional keyperson program of the American Optometric Association.

 

Dr. Rob Young

Originally from the mid-Missouri area, Dr. Young attended Avila College in Kansas City where he earned his undergraduate degree in X-Ray Science with a minor in  business.Dr. Young  For 7 years he was a Special Procedures X-Ray specialist in the Kansas City area and also managed a mobile CAT scanning operation providing care to rural Kansas hospitals.
     After deciding on Optometry as a career, Dr. Young attended the Pacific College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.  While at Pacific earning his doctorate, Dr. Young was the Chief Teaching Assistant for the Physiological Optics course and was a member of the Phi Theta Upsilon Optometric Society.
     Dr. Young is a member of the Oregon Optometric Association, the Willamette Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, the 1994 treasurer and the 1995 president of the Willamette Optometric Society.




Dr. Jim Hale

    Dr. Hale is an optometric physician who earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University college of Optometry. Graduating with "honors", Dr. Hale was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. After completing a hospital-based residency in eye disease and primary care at the Portland VS Medical Center, he spent several years working in a laser surgery center where he gained valuable experience in pre and post-operative eyecare. He then spent four years practicing with a large group of specialists in Portland where he focused on comprehensive eye examinations and contact lenses.

Dr. Hale is the Past-President of the Portland Metropolitan Optometric Society and is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Optometry at Pacific University. He will join the staff of Valley Eye care in August, 2005, where he combines the latest medical knowledge with his practical experience to provide the highest level of patient care.

Dr. Hale and his wife Dee Dee (Fehrenbacher) are Corvallis natives who graduated from Corvallis High School and Oregon State University. They return home to Corvallis with their three children. The Hale Family enjoys spending time together swimming, fishing, and exploring nature.

Hello, my name is Janelle and I have been with Valley Eye Care since May 2001. I work closely with the patients and assist the doctors by doing the initial part of the eye exam called pre-testing. I also do a number of other diagnostic tests to help you maintain healthy vision. I greatly enjoy working with the patients and I look forward to meeting you soon.

My name is Alan.  I attended Canada College in Redwood City, California, where I received an Associates Degree in Opticianry.  I have 20 years experience in the optical field and am certified by the American Board of Opticianry.  I manage the dispensary and I look forward to helping you with all your eyewear questions.

I'm Leta.  I got my start in eye care  with my father who was an optometrist in Ontario, Oregon for a long time.  I've been in  various aspects of optical for over 22 years.  I'm the lab manager at Valley Eye Care and I'm responsible for fabricating the high quality eyewear that we're known for.  My expertise is in producing specialty prescriptions.

Hi, my name is Elizabeth; I have been in the optical Profession since January 1995. I am certified by the American Board of Optometry. I am knowledgeable with all designer frame lines and would like to help you select the best frame and lens design to accommodate your lifestyle.

Hi! I'm Kim and I've been with Valley Eye Care since January 2001. I handle the Accounts Receivable and all Insurance Billings. I also participate at in pre-testing patients for their exams prior to seeing the doctor. HOURS

Valley Eye Care is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, with evening appointments available.  Emergencies are given priority status and there is always a doctor on call.  Appointment schedules are honored but please understand that emergencies that do occur will sometimes create delays.  If you are unable to keep an appointment please notify the office 24 hours in advance in order to reschedule.

Monday:  8:30 AM – 7:30 PM
Tuesday:  8:30 AM– 7:30 PM
Wednesday:  7:30 AM – 5:30 PM 
Thursday:  8:30 AM– 5:30 PM
Friday: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM, and
Saturday 9:00 AM– 2:00 PM

 


FEES AND PAYMENTS OF SERVICES

Our trained insurance specialist provides insurance billing for our patients.  We will bill Medicare and most medical insurance companies.  Please remember that your policy is between you and your insurance company and the payment responsibility remains with you.  We ask, however, that co-payments be paid at the time of service and deposits for spectacles and contacts be paid when the order is placed.   We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
